V8nside
hey..got a question.. I have decided to change my vg30dett for a ls series engine... My question is if a ls1 can be made to fit in a z32 will a ls3 or a ls7 also fit... Are the ls series engines the same overall size as in diamensions...?? And does anyone know if there is any room left over for a Turbo/Supercharger...? I have spent a shitload on this car already so if i can im sticking a ls7 twin turbo in her.... Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.... Edited July 24, 2012 by V8nside
Mike kZ
Yes, all of the LS series are the same diamensions. V8s have been put into these cars for awhile, there was even a guy on here who had a kit to install a V8. Here is one car: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/97246-z32-lt1-questions/page__p__914327__hl__%2Bz32+%2Bv8__fromsearch__1#entry914327 . There should be room for a turbo or two. roger280zx
The ls7 has a different pan. I have no idea if it would affect the fitment, but it is a dry sump and would have a pump and need a remote tank. There have been several ls powered z32's and I'm sure there is info on what pan works with what and so on.
V8nside
Mike kZ....... You just made my day that's awesome news... just have to weigh up between ls3 or ls7?... ls3 with t56 i can get here for $10k for a new ls7 Good luck finding a second hand one in australia... i would have to drop 25k then gear box then turbo charging somehow that ls3 looking mighty fine... One way or the other is gotta be done..... My ls2 ute goes sweet as with a few little mods only prob is it weighs 1900kg and it still eats most cars with 300kw at the wheels..My Zed my is down to a trim 1345kg so that should fly....Thanks for your help... V8nside
roger280zx Thanks mate ...,I checked up on the pans and while the ls7 has a different pan than the others in the u.s... the best part about getting a Holden ls1 2 or 3 that i know ( Holden is australia's version of the chevy)is that they come with a smaller pan or something like that... I know the pan is different to that of an american ls series and from a american guy that has done the ls1 z32 conversion,he said he ordered a holden pan and it fixed the pan issue ... so i should be sweet in that aspect.. Thanks for your help.... (Sorry i should clarify that Holden is the aussie sector of your GM ) Edited July 25, 2012 by V8nside
