280chevzy Posted August 27, 2012 Share Posted August 27, 2012 So my car is a 1976 280z and is pretty well dismantled.I am trying to go thru the wiring harness and vacuum system for the hvac system while the dash is out for ease of access.Question is what do the vacuum switches on the passenger side fender do? I have searched around and figured out one is called a magnet switch and i believe the other one is supposed to idle up the engine when the compressor is called to run . Can anyone explain to me what the magnet switch does and could it be operated without it? I am dong a carbed lt1 swap so im not really worried about the idle one.
