Guest firebern
My datsun 280Z 1978 had the L28 engine and its rating was 170HP(written on the engine plate under the hood). So is the L28E stronger or equal? If not, why, or can we do something to change this other than putting a turbo? Thanks, Bernard.
randy 77zt
rating was gross hp.wheels probably about 130 to 140.a 3.1 stroker engine with aftermarkit efi will probably make 200 to 230 at rear wheels.that is why people build v8 zcars.engines cheaper to hop up.then there is the quality of the horse power.this is called bottem end torque.right now you can buy a NEW chevy in crate with car b and distributor for $3000 -thats 330 hp with 380ft/lbs of torque with a 1 year warrenty.a nissan will never make this much torque no matter what you do to it and torque is what slams your head into the seat.i drive a turbo 77 but i pieced it together with junk yard parts.runs a low 14 1/4 mile with easy launch but i use the car for road racing.
