L76 build questions

Recommended Posts

I just picked up a screaming deal for my 240Z. I got a L76 very low mileage with all accessories, harness, ecm etc. for 2200 bucks and included a warranty. Does anyone know if I can run the Pontiac G8 L76 oil pan in my Z? It holds more oil than the original F body oil pan which is great. I plan on doing the DOD delete and adding LS7 lifters, cam, valve springs and push rods. It already has the LS3 heads and intake with 39 lb injectors.

Also plan on adding a 4L80E transmission with a 3600 9.5" converter. Now I just need to pull my first gen 385 motor and 700r4 tranny. Myold set up would run 9.70's in the 1/4 but was a gas sucking hog when cruising around, cannot wait to go fuel injection!!!

Thanks

Mike

Damn thats fast. If you can, measure how tall that pan is. With the stock f-body pan and JCI mount system, my pan hangs 1-inch below the crossmember. You can use that as a reference for ground clearance. I'm always pretty apprehensive about when I'm gonna take that pan out on a rock. Next build I'm gonna look for a corvette pan to help with ground clearance. I'm scrapin on some of the junky return tracks around here. Could always get longer springs. What rearend you running with currently.

I am running the R200 clutch type rear end with upgraded clutches, 300ZXT CV axles and Modern Motorsport stub axles. It has been very reliable as it has seen hundreds of passes and I have only broken one CV axle. Not bad for low 1.4X 60 ft.'s

What stall did you use? Did you have any trouble with your 300zx axles being too long? Where did your CV axle break? Not meaning to thread jack-you want me to PM you?

I have been running a well built 700r4 transmission with a Edge racing converter 3600 9.5". It has lasted 7 yrs....LOL The CV axle broke in the center of the shaft, just snapped when I hit the 175 shot about 30 ft. out. The axles need to be taken apart and switched to get the proper length, there are write ups on it, it is very easy to do! I drive this car everywhere to the track, meets, car shows etc. It runs on 93 octane but gets poor mileage with the 750 dp on it.
