hey everyone, im new here so dont make fun of me yet..

i currently own a 72 240z with the l28, triple webbers, hot cam, headers,(bolt on stuff) ive been running this setup for years now with good results, but i think its time for me to get out of the 70's and into the 80's! i want to do a l28et swap, right now i already have a lot of the essential ingredients for the power, l28 block, 3.54 R200,and aftermarket ignition, can i swap the head for the turbo head.

these are my goals:

run the l28et with

upgraded intercooler and next size larger turbo( or, how much can stock unit put out reliably)

injectors(if need be)

blow off( i just want one!)

straight pipe three inch exhaust

and maybe a turbo timer, if budget allows

my goals are 250-300 hp, the latter if possible of course. what is the most dependable boost you can get from the l28et with no internal work and no porting?

and how did you guys set up the wiring and all that, any help would be great

thankz

hey checked it out, pretty cool, so you say

stock efi sys can only handle about 250hp?

do you know if vg30 injectors will work?

do you think i would need custom fuel rail for 275?? . maybe crushing the regulator a little bit? i was quite happy to hear stock turbo can be boosted ok, as i said, im not trying to be hoover tan or anything, for that money ill put an aluminum v8 and twin turbo charge it, with a munsy(that was for fairlady 327, )

very informative, how is yours coming along, i need more inspiration!

Well conventional wisdom suggests that you won't get a lot more than 250hp out of the stock system, but there are a few out there that are getting 300!! It can be done, but it becomes an issue of applying a bunch of band-aid type fixes to make the car perform. If you are serious about HP I would really suggest getting something programmable. SDS is about the cheapest one out there, and I'm impressed with the quality. There are many more systems out there, with many more features as well. (the big one being datalogging IMHO)

Scottie-GNZ had about the best inexpensive recipie for sucess that I've seen out of an L28 turbo. He was running 13.09@110.97 with very similar mods to what I am doing.

-SDS

-NPR intercooler

-370cc injectors

-stock turbo, engine internals

-55mm throttle body

-2.5" downpipe, 3" exhaust

I believe that the injectors were closing in on maximum duty cycle at that point, and to be sure the turbo was maxxed out, or beyond that! If you are serious about 300rwhp, you'll probably want to think about 420cc injectors, and a slightly bigger turbo.

Check out the links at the bottom of that turbo article and read scotties page. Its well worth it.
