Guest Anonymous
Ok now my car has normal power thru all of first gear and second gear(it pulls very nicely) but when it gets into third and later power it has no power and its struggling to keep up and it back fires. Its an l28 with SU carbs please help, I timed it yesterday and now I dont know what the problem could be. Thanks Lance
Guest Anonymous
Do you have a vaccum gauge that will also measure fuel pressure? if not Disconnect the fuel line, crank the engine and visually see the fuel being pumped into a bucket (3 3/8 pints in a minute or 3.41 to 4.27 PSI) and put your thumb over the pumping fuel line to check pressure.Back firing is usually a sympton of ignition problems. Check your vaccum advance in the distributor. Take off the vaccum line and suck to see if the plate moves under vaccum pressure.
Guest Anonymous
Does anybody think it could be the fuel pump? Like it pumps just enough fuel into the carbs so it has power at first but then the fuel pump can't keep up with the engine when there's more of a load on it?
