C&C insert recap?

We talked about this before but I never found the "answer" that I was looking for. How loud will the collector inserts be compared to something like a flowmaster and how will it flow. The charts are very convincing on the C&C website (http://www.carchemistry.com/ccinserts.html).

But the problem is that they compare the sound level of their inserts to a few different types of mufflers which answers one important question. THEY ARE ABLE TO MUFFLE TO THE SAME dB LEVEL AS A MUFFLER. The horsepower curve look mighty impressive comared to a baffled muffler too. My problem with the site is that for each graph they indicate insert size but not about the restictors that come with the insert to control the dB level.

Check out the graphs and tell me whether I am just wrong or paraniod that I will waste money.

The only reason I am considering these in the first place is because I want a side exit exhaust and these take up no room at all under the car.

sorry if I blabbed a little too much here.

Funny you should mention that, Jake. I just came accross it earlier today and their exhaust inserts looks interesting. I asked in my earlier post whether these things really worked as advertised and if people had any experience with them...

Having seen them at the speed shop and actually pulled one out of the box, my guess is it'll take alot of the cackle off the exhaust when you let off, but I donno. Its just three stamped pieces of metal with a pipe with holes running through it. I've used a simple metal disk with holes in it on my harley with basically straight pipes, and it does take the rasp out of it, but you won't sneak up on anyone with it. I suspect these would be the same. They do say they need to be as close to the header as possible for best results. Did they mention in they're ad how they achieved those numbers? If you move a sound meter around the car, the sound obviously will change, they may have found a sweet quiet spot for they're meter and called it good. icon_wink.gif

Thank you. Please note on the H.P. Chart the 2 disk and the 3 disk are flipped as the 2 disk allows a little more power. The restrictor will create a little back pressure. However in most cases that can be "tuned" out by leaning the engine a little. The drag cars that do this run their same E.T.'s with the tuning change. A computer controlled car should do it itslef. What DBa's you will see depend upon Cu. In., cam and exhaust dimensions.

This is what the rep. said when I asked about the difference mentioned in my fist post of this thread. I emailed agian with more specific questions and will report upon receit.

Generally we sound like a two or three chamber unit depending on actual exhaust flow. They have a deep, crisp aggressive sound. The units are provide with a restrictor that can go on the front end and it helps reduce noise. I am more concerned about sound than restriction on your combination. I have run them on my oqwn vehicles and have been happy. One of my employees had a Camaro with a small block, milder than yours, but it sounded great. The tune up is the key. If you are running too rich it sounds awful. The X pipe hepls as well. Our units do not have a flow rate as they work on a different principle.

This is the response I got from the rep this time.

"Our units do not have a flow rate as they work on a different principle."

Umm, how can something, flowing through something, not have a flow rate? icon_confused.gif

I wish they'd put some sound files so we could hear em.
