Guest Anonymous
Since I am planning on keeping my '78 280 a long time, I want my engine to last. *(The motor will be F54 block, P90A head, 280 crank, 9mm 240 connecting rods, flat top pistons, high compression -- ie. shaved head, shimed cam towers -- medium street cam) I was told that the hydraulic lifters wear out and they are no longer available new, so had been planning to replace them with solid lifters. But I've been reading that they don't really wear out and can be cleaned and refurbished. So my question is: how long can they last? Should I just stick with the hydraulic lifters on the car (cleaned, etc.) and if and when they ever wear out find used replacements or switch to solid lifters at that time? I don't want to make a poor choice. Thanks for any help. Alex in Virginia '78 280 '76 280 '69 2000 Roadster (Fun!)
