Guest greimann
In theory they are supposed to freewheel when cold and when they heat up, there is a bi-metal spring that rotates a plate inside to close off passages that impede the flow of a silicon fluid coupling. In theory. When I had an L6, I went through many, many aftermarket clutches that never worked properly. It was damn frustrating. I think I went to an electric fan after giving up on the clutches. Guest Tom Scala
When the engine is hot and shut off the fan shouldn't freewheel, right? I have a new aftermarket clutch for the plastic L6 fan and it never seems to lock up. Is there a reliable source for these things that actually work? Guest Anonymous
It is very difficult to find a reliable aftermarket fan clutch. I would and did go electric.
