Guest smoov280zx
Holy S#^t! I bought an n47 today for a flattop buildup. It had a cylinder head temp sensor on the side, which threw me. Brandon said it was probably a maxima n47. Ran outside, cleaned the chambers off with carb cleaner and a shop towel, it's just like the p-series with the heart-shaped combustion squish dohicky! Oh yeah, I measured the valves too. It's already got the 280 valves! Geez, i can't believe the luck. The head is in awesome shape and i got it plus the intake and exhaust manifolds for fitty bucks. After a soak, i going to put it on my new bottom end. I would really appreciate some recommendations on the head gasket thickness. This things made for a 2.4, so i'm thinkin a 2mm would probably be a good idea. Any thoughts or if anyone knows what compression this would yield on a flattop f54, I would really appreciate it. (damn this rulez! )
Guest JAMIE T
Sounds good. There are three Maxima's at my local pick and pull with N47 heads on them. I would go grab all of them if some one said I should. If I could sell them for anything.
Guest Anonymous
What year was the car that the head came off of?

DAW
It's probably got the 280Z ex valves, but not the intakes. I'd bet on 42mm intakes vs 44mm (L28). Regardless, you've got a good thing in that head, but if it's stock Maxima L24E you'll want to get rid of the cam and the intake valve springs. Just use any non-Maxima L6 intake valve springs and a drilled Zcar (or ZX) na cam. If you decide to go with the 44mm intake valves, any '75-'78 280Z head is a good source.
