hellcat287
Hi new here. Just picked up a 74.5 260z; this is my fourth Z. Have a strange problem with the green/blue wire coming into the headlight switch. With my meter it's showing the 12 volts constant like it should. However, if I turn the switch on nothing happens. I understand that the green/blue should make contact with the green/white inside the switch on the number 1 and 2 positions. I took the switch apart, cleaned it up and put it back together. Still nothing. So I decided to jumper the green/blue to green/white at the solder points on the outside of the switch. Still nothing. However, if I jumper the white/red for the headlights to the green/white the dashboard and running lights all pop on. Again, both the white/red and green/blue at the switch show 12 volts. I took at look at the plastic 12 pin connector where the green/blue and green/white feed in/out of. It's somewhat melted on the corner where the green/white lead goes in. The green/blue lead is just above it in the plug. Is there a reason why the green/blue would show 12v but essentially not able to power the actual lights when I jumpered them? I was able to jumper the headlight white/red to the green/white and everything worked ok? Does this suggest a short on the green/blue wire between the fuse box and the swtich? I think the plug itself it somewhat suspect also. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
