BLKMGK
Looking over some of the sites that sell pulled LT1s and looking at what I'd spend to buy a crate motor and then injection down the road I have to ask - how many are running LT1s pulled form wrecked cars? I'm not so much concerned with swapping in the whole injection system as I am curios as to how well the thing fits at all. Gear driven water pump, reverse flow cooling, big damper, oil pan(?), how does it fit? I've seen maybe one site that had pics of such a conversion but would really like to know just how much harder one of these swaps is over say a crate motor with regular water pump. What about the direct fire ignition, does it cause problems? $3K or so for the motor with injection setup is awfully tempting! Not being a GM guy - how much HP do those motors make with their aluminum heads? I already know better than to get a 'Vette motor. Inquiring minds want to know.... THANKS! Guest Frank280z
Did you check out Ron Tylers 240/LT1 on www.datsuns.com? No e-mail address. But I'm sure you can get in touch with a friend of a friend over there. He's says first gear is worthless with the setup. Romp Romp... Guest RyalC
My car isn't running yet (too many irons in the fire ) but I am putting a '94 LT1/T56 into a '73 240Z. Everything does fit. As previously mentioned Ron Tyler has already done it. The stock '94 LT1 was around 275hp. Later models were 285 (dual cats). My engine will be around 400 rwhp with ported heads and either a solid roller or Comp Cams 306 hyd roller cam. Just for info, the attached was posted in the www.camaross.com for-sale bulletin board just a few days ago. "94 LT1 70k miles, Includes, mass air, all front accessories, complete lt1 engine, wiring harness, M6 computer, y-pipe, and fuel pump. $1400 for everything. We can ship anywhere in the lower 48 states.
