alexx933
Soooo.... I bought another S30! This posting has been delayed a little bit as I just haven't gotten around to it. But without further ado, here she is! (In silver. The white 77 was brought down to Florida from home in Washington) The body is rust free and requires frame rail repair. Luckily, new bad dog rails were included. Not to mention the rest of these parts.... That's tons of original parts the previous owner removed. To include the radio, A/C, seats, two heads(E88 and E31), three extra sets of carbs (one ztherapy set), and soooo much more. To accompany all of the parts, were the most amazing pieces of paper! Yes, that's right. RECEIPTS for pretty much EVERYTHING! I tallied in my head over $5000 in parts that were either added to the car or were sitting in boxes with the car. Poor guy overpaid tremendously at the zstore but I'm not going to complain. My favorite receipt was the earliest to be found. A battery purchased in Alabama in.... 1983! I picked her up just before Thanksgiving and drove back 300 miles with only a few issues. Firstly, the tank could not be filled with more than a gallon at a time due to a kinked vent line. Coupled with a faulty fuel guage, I stopped every half hour or so..... This made my 4 hour drive almost 5. Not so fun. I also found the ignition switch wouldn't always maintain power to accessories. Not a major deal though as I had another key set. First thing I did was take the NOS key set out of the 77 to swap into the 73. All the locks now match! The spare key set I purchased from another member a while back. That went back into the 77 which is currently my daily. As I drive a old slow datsun, most people like to ride right up my.... This led me to thinking about a third brake light. After some research, LED strips seemed the most attractive and incognito option. A stop at autozone gave me some strips of red LEDs and amazing reusable interior panel rivets. A few hours later, this happened. The top strip is split in two so that the right half blinks with the blinkers and vise versa. Originally, I picked up the LEDs from Walmart but fell in love with the autozone LEDs which were much brighter. Being seen was the idea and I should have no problems. One of the other issues with the 73 was that the weber carbs ran far too rich. When stomped on, all I got was flooding. I adjusted the mixture a few times in vain. I could lean it out but not enough. Which means it was time to swap on the ztherapy carbs. These are purtttyyyy I ran into a few snags with installation. Got them on and tuned though! The linkage was sheared off in order to use the webers. I had it welded back together.
alexx933
As far as the future goes, I'd like to build this old fox to be track worthy. Not a full roll cage track car. But an occasional race or auto-x while mostly appearing stock aside from a few styling cues. Flares will NOT be added. This fox's fenders are too clean to cut. I'm looking at: AZC Wilwood brakes on the front BC racing or Sakura Garage coilovers with camber plates TTT control arms and rear brakes. I'd being going with the parking brake option. 245 wide tires in a square set up. 17 inch wheels would be ideal for the larger tire selection than 16 inches. A front air dam paired with an adjustable spoiler will probably make their way onto the car. But this build is intended to take a very large chunk of time. Budget constraints and all.
