Guest super280z
Cerberus, to answer that one simply, YES! even guys running the opti have setups for a solid roller. ditch the gear driven waterpump for a Merzerie unit, new timing cover, true roller timing chain, add cam, some gaskets, pokie and stir for 2-3 mins over an open flame. and viola! you'll get an extra little HP bouns from the timing chain and no more gear driven waterpump to go with the new cam. good luck and have fun with it. Guest Anonymous
Super280z, That is what I thought .But can I use a regular cover? Or will I have too weld a plugin the waterpump hole for the thrust button? I will have mildly ported lt1 heads + intake for sale If this goes right .Less than 2000 miles .throttle body etc. Also hedman block hugger headers. If you need anything just ask. Thanks, Cerberus
Guest super280z
from what i have gathered you can use the stocker with a plug or weld in of some kind. what year is your motor? there are diffrent size timing covers that on the earlier motors they will not fit over a double roller timing chain. Camaroz28.com has some great information. chezh out there site and run a search for the info you need. i've been trying to get a hold of you but i dont think you have your e-mail up. mine is my post name @hotmail.com. let me know what exactly it is that you're getting rid of. im allways looking for a good deal on LT1 parts. i'd also like to know what kind of numbers your car puts down. good luck with the heads/cam swap. Guest Anonymous
The motor has 12-04-94 on the pump so it should be a 95 I think>?E-mail lt1240z@speakeasy.net Parts If all goes well top end , 4l60 tran etc.
Guest super280z
from what i understand from my mastermind bud, all you have to do is plug the hole. the concern with the clearance issues only occurred in the later (96-97) obd-II LT1's so you should be fine. remember that this sucker is basically just a regular old 350 with a diffrent face and water ports on the heads. everything else is interchangeable. hope this helps and let us know how it turns out cause im about to dive into the same adventure.
