I currently have a vh45de tore down for complete rebuild 2thumbs.gif . The intake and injector setup on the engine in picture are completely different than the vh45de. The vh45de has a spider or stagered intake runners this one does not, there for it must be a vh41de JDM spec motor. That my $.02's worth !! bonk.gif

Badzx is right. The one in the pic is not the US version VH45DE. I had not noticed it until he mentioned it. It could still be the VH45DE, however, it is definately a JDM spec engine. I'm not familiar with the US spec VH41DE intake runners, so I don't know if it is one of those. The engine compartment of the '75-'78 Z is the same as the '70-'74. If it won't fit a 240Z, then it won't fit a 280Z. The main problem of the VH45DE is the overall height of the engine with the US spec intake manifold installed. Either a cowl hood or dry-sump oil pan would be required to make it work.
