Guest Anonymous
My 72 240 has the Crane (xr3000?) ignition module and pointless set up on the otherwise stock six. Just a heads up if anyone else runs across this, but while driving the other day it abruptly stopped like someone/thing killed the ignition. I start to pull over and just as I coast to the side of the road it fires up again like theres no problem. I drive home with no other incidents. Well today I get to dinking around under there and as I move the three wires coming from the distributor it dies again. I start it, its fine, move wires, it dies. Ok, now I'm thinking bad wire, well turns out it was just the plug in harness (which I never had touched before today)appearently pushed one of the female prongs out of the connector when it was plugged together. Seated it back in the plug and its all cool now. Moral of the story, if you have a crane ignition, and it ever dies suddenly, then the plug between the distributor and the module would be the first thing I'd check. Obviously the chance of this happening to someone else is remote, but I thought I'd mention it. May the Z be with you.
