Guest scca Posted January 12, 2001 Share Posted January 12, 2001 whats the best injector to use with the SDS for a L28T? i know-- each is different lets have some baselines.. if a stock L28- I/C, 10 psi then what injector. how good are the supra injectors for this? are mustang injectors a good fit or pick some of the ones on the sds site? if upgrade to the T3-t4 turbo unit and a DP like scotty did then what injector. i want to have the SDS with a HKS i/c freshened motor running 10-12psi boost i will drive it pretty hard but no 1/4 mile. running a 3.9 R200 and 5 speed, lightened flywheel, already, 2.5 mandrel exhaust just need to eliminate the flowmaster now for a better muffler for turbo.. ------------------ Mike mike@fonebooth.com http://www.fonebooth.com/brakes.html raceparts and brake upgrades. Guest Anonymous Posted January 12, 2001 Share Posted January 12, 2001 I would reccomend the injectors JWT specs for their '450 hp' kits on 280zx turbos and z31 turbos - the injectors are dimensionally the same as the stock s130/early z31 injectors so they bolt right in without any trouble at all. They are low impedance, so you will have to use resistors with the sds so you don't roast them. They are 420cc/min which is good for plenty of power. And the best part, you can get them for $227 for a set of 6 from carparts.com if you can find a $100 off coupon. otherwise they are $50 each, give or take a bit. Quick, easy, cheap, big enough, what more could you want! Just tell them what you plan on running and they will send the appropriate inj driver. That provides a wider selection of injectors, leaving you to be concerned only about finding one that requires little or no mods to fit. They have a round connector so you would have to change that also. I haven't put them on yet but EvanPurple is running them on his car. That way, you can run either style of injectors. Get the low impedance hardware, and you can only run low impedance injectors. Or am I missing something? But, also keep in mind that none of these programable systems are made for a specific car. Once you eliminate the OEM wiring and computer, it is just another 6 cyl. What makes a Z unique in that sense is the mappings it ends up with. Imagine if these vendors were to try and sell a unique system for every car and have to take into consideration the level of modifications? That said, I made the discovery when RCI sent Patrick hi-impedance injs and we had an SDS low-impedance driver. SDS was more than willing to send us a different driver, for a cost of course. After all, would you take back a used electrical part? We eventually forced RCI into swapping out the injs. Why is that not on the SDS page? randy 77zt Posted January 16, 2001 Share Posted January 16, 2001 morgan-do those 420cc injectors use oem fuel rail?new injectors and fuel rail are a cost consideration when changing to sds since you have to specify to them what you are using for injectors at time of ordering.i would probably build a new fuel rail anyway to make install look cleaner. The SDS connectors and/or the injectors will need to be shaved a bit with an x-acto knife to make the plugs fit on them though.
