BLKMGK
I'm not sure the T-Rex can draw the fuel up from the tank - I think they reccomend a "lifter" pump of some sort. In the Ford world the T-Rex has always been used in conjunction with a stock pump when I've seen it. I'm not saying running it alone wouldn't work but that it's probably not how it's supposed to be setup. Have you considered contacting Vortech's tech support maybe? Guest Tom Scala
Checked Vortech tech support and they say the 50/70 T-Rex can be used independently of the stock pump. I still think I'll feed it with the stock one just to be safe though.
Guest Tom Scala
I have an inline Vortec T-Rex 50gph@70psi fuel pump I was going to put on my 78 Turbo Z and was wondering if it would be a good idea to run it in series with the stock pump. The reason I ask is in Pontiac Enthusiast magazine they bolted a Vortec supercharger on a new Ram Air T/A and put the 50/70 Vortec pump after the stock one. Their reasoning was the stock pump would feed the Vortec and allow it to put out it's rated flow numbers. I've heard running pumps in series like that causes cavitation and you should run them in parallel. Would this 50/70 pump by itself do the job for a 300HP motor? The 2 pumps in series worked on the F-Bird though. It made 430Hp at the wheels and puked the torque convertor when they took it to the strip. After repairs it eventually went 11.60's on BFG DR's compared to 13.20's stock & 12.60's with the bad trans.
