Guest HIGHRPM
HI GUYS. A quick question. For the stock ignition system, according to the wiring diagram, the ballast resistor is by-passed during cranking for full battery voltage for good startup but then runs through the ballast resistor for your running igniton, causing it to run on about 9 volts which would create a much longer chargeup time for the coil and hence an inferior spark as compared to systems running a dedicated battery voltage line to the + side of the coil. In my early 260, can I run a dedicated line to the coil without screwing up the ignition box???? 74 early 260 Driver 74 early 260 next project
jeromio
My experience with running 12 volts to a coil (a regular, non resistor coil) has been coil that lasts about 5-6 months.
