D83ZXT
I have a question's for you TEC-2 user's Anyone of you using the IAC with your set-up? I'm currently running stock intake and as it sits now it use's the stock air regulator(two wire)and AAC valve, vacuum control valve, plus it feeds to the FICD. Can I remove it all and have a cleaner intake with IAC for TEC? Or do I have to keep that mess on my intake manifold? I sure would like a cleaner looking motor like some of you fellow Tec user's Open to suggestions..... Thanks, Donna *Boy is this a learning experience*
Guest Anonymous
Not sure on the mess .The IAC is satan in disguise !! If you don't have enough stall , It likes too show its face .GET RID OF IT .[if you aren't runnin AC Or power steering ]. Also kills cold start ; but if you set it up right shouldn't be a issue .Right now I'm waiting on my stall the Postal service Misplaced it . I want and NEED AC . D83ZXT
This Tec will be going into a 83zxt daily driver. I want to keep my A/C (Sunny Ca.) I'm trying to get everything ready for less down time. This unit didn't come w/IAC when I purchased it. And this question has been lurking in the back of my head. x() Donna
TimZ
You should be able to get rid of that stuff, but you will need to find a way to mount the IAC. Here's a pic of how I plumbed mine: [ September 11, 2001: Message edited by: TimZ ]

randy 77zt
i dont run the aac valve on my car except during smog test.the warm up valve has a bimetal strip that closes gradualy if 12v is applied to it.if you run an iac valve it should take the place of warm up valve-it bypasses air around throttle body.if you need any help or suggestions email me -i will be happy to come to you house to help you out if invited. D83ZXT
Thanks Randy! This week has been kinda slow. I may just hop on the freeway and pay you a visit I really appreciate it. TimZ, I have seen your Z!!! Can I PLEASE have that intake of yours Seen some Very Nice set-ups that can be done with these fun little L6's. Are you using the IAC with your TEC? I've talked with Tim O and he's not going to use it. Now I need to think where it's gonna go. Donna *Ahh...the joy of learning*
D83ZXT
Oops Sorry TimZ. You are running one. Question for you... What throttle body is that? And may I ask where did you plumb your IAC? Thanks Again, Donna
randy 77zt
donna-if you need some chassis dyno time for tuning i might be able to arrange it-i run the smog dyno at work but it has a menu with more functions than just smogbut peak hp isnt accurate.but its better than nothing. TimZ
quote: Originally posted by D83ZXT: What throttle body is that? And may I ask where did you plumb your IAC? The throttle is one of the original Weber 'Big Throat' throttle bodies. It has a 60mm bore. On this throttle body, there was a fixture that looked like it must have been intended to house an IAC of some sort. It was cast into the TB, but it did not have any opeings into the TB. I had the adapter that came with the IAC, which had a threaded fitting on the side, and a hose barb on the bottom. I then drilled out an opening in the TB from the 'IAC mount' to the non-vacuum side (front) of the throttle plate. Once I had the opening drilled out, I epoxied the adapter onto the IAC mount (could have had it welded, but epoxy seems to be working fine, so far) with the hose end part of the adapter using the new opening in the TB to breathe. I then plumbed some -8 hose from the threaded fitting to a fitting on the manifold where the cold start valve used to be. If you look at the picture, this is the hose above the TB that makes a 90 degree turn. Hopefully it makes a bit more sense, now... If you don't have a mounting point like this on your TB, you could just as easily fab a similar mounting point for it anywhere on the pipe that goes from the IC to the TB. Guest sfm12
I drive a flatbed Dodge Diesel. Pretty boring huh. I have a good friend who has access to any wiring diagrams and info on electronic engine controls. He has been to training classes on TEC II / OBD 1 and 2. I hope that helps. DAW
Is that why the aftermarket suppliers (eg MSA) state that the Weber big bore throttle body is not for turbocharged Zs? (because there's no provision for the fitting you've installed? DAW
