Guest Anonymous
Hi Everyone, I'm new to this board and I'd appreciate your advice. I have the opportunity to buy a 1987 GN engine. It has 50,000 miles on it and includes the engine, all belt-driven accessories, the turbo, all wiring and the computer. Not included are the intercooler, radiator and transmission. The owner is asking $1000 for it. What do you think? How much is such an engine normally worth? What kind of transmission could I mate to the GN engine? Any tips and advice would be very much appreciated. Gilles 260ZT
Scottie-GNZ
GRAB IT! The GN engine uses a 200R trans and converter designed specifically for it and your best bet for finding one is to check the Buick forums classifieds everyday and be prepared to act quickly. If you could have gotten the I/C, that would have been good to get the project going but you probably want to go with an FMIC eventually. You could not have used the radiator. http://www.turbobuick.com http://www.turbobuicks.com http://www.gnttype.org (all the technical details you could ever want)
Guest Anonymous
Sounds like a steal to me. If you don't have to use a mask or gun or strong arm no body, yeah I'd definately steal it. Good find, Lone
Guest Anonymous
It's not something I was actually looking for right now, more like a project in a few years. Being available locally is nice rather than buying an engine over the net sight unseen. Is it something I could easily resell without losing any money should things not work out the way I hope down the road?
BLKMGK
From what Scottie has said in the past GN motors FLY off the boards he linked for you. If you decided not to keep the motor I'd expect you'd sell it pretty quick off one of those boards. Why not try reading up on them some and seeing how fast they get sold? In a way I almost wish I'd gone that route
