Guest Anonymous
I'm thinking about dropping an 86 GN 3.8L into my 1978 280z 2+2, and I am worried about emmisions junk. The buick will probably be cleaner than the L6 so will it be a problem ? I don't want to fail AirCare!
randy 77zt
i dont know about canada but i am a smog tech in california so i can tell you about what i did to smog my 77z/81zxt .basically made sure everything that came on the zxt motor still working like the egr system.with the buick if you put a high flow cat where oem cat was and hook up the evap cannister it should work fine.just check out your local laws first before starting project.in ca swaps are legal if you update the engine and engine was certified for use in california. Guest jdllaugh
Hey, Randy 77zt, in California, is it legal to run a late-model motor without a cat in an older car like a 240z? Since the 240 didn't have a cat originally? Have you ever heard about legality in other states/nationwide?
