Guest Anonymous
Hello yall, another wacko question in my effort to build a cool engine... my question is for deck height; ive read that minimum allowable clearance is .035" piston to head clearance with steel rods yet all the combos add up to 9" flat? maybe the head gasket accounts forr that other .010? ok question being figure this: 350 block , 262 crank (3.1") 1.425" compression height piston and 6" rod it adds up to 8.975.. is this going to leave the piston too far down in the cylinder? i know ill lose compression. but too much>? this would make it .025" below deck height of a normally assembled engine, so i calculated this .025" on a 4" bore equals 5.149 cc's. Is it sufficient to just use a smaller combustion chamber too make up the difference? , OR am i way the heck off? thanks DAN
