Guest Tom Scala
At what air temp does detonation become an issue on a stock compression ZXT? The highest I've seen at 6psi with no IC was 52 deg C after stop and go running in town with the a/c on,an 80 deg day and pulling off onto a straight deserted stretch for a quick 3 gear squirt from a dead stop. With a cooler motor/turbo it's usually in the low 40's at the same ambient temp. I've not heard any detonation yet running 28 degrees total advance at these intake temps. According to Ray Halls Turbo calc I'll gain around 20 deg C going from 6 to 8.5 psi. Is this too much for 93 octane?
