Guest Tim78zt
Can anyone tell me if you have seen core material like this? It is V-grooved for better airflow and a flying rock would not dent it. Each channel is individually welded. Looks very labor-intensive. Reminds me vaguely of escalator steps. It does not block any air flow from my radiator...just as cool-running as it was before I mounted the core. Tim78zt
BLKMGK
Who makes the intercooler core? Is it out of an OEM application?
Guest Tim78zt
I'm not sure who makes the material. It was assembled by Corky Bell's shop, but my local tuner says he has been dealing with Corky for a long time and has never seen anything like this come out of Belltech or anywhere else for that matter. The end plate had a "Successor" logo etched into it. I like Corky's ingenuity in finding materials that work, but it remains to be seen as to whether this core will flow like a conventional bar/plate design. Looking inside it you can see where each strip was welded to the next. I just wonder if there has been any independent analysis of the flow characteristics of this core. I'll be pleased as punch if it flows well because I love having something a little unique that really works (78 turbo Z for example), but I feel like Corky's R&D department right now!!
