Guest Anonymous
is the LD28 crank that nesessary of a gain to the l28ET project, i cant really afford to spent 200$ for the crank, and its 84mm where stock is 79mm what does it bigger stroke mean phycsis wise
ZROSSA
Higher piston speed. lower max rpm. More machining (i think). I wouldnt bother if its already turboed. Some of the lads are getting wicked hp with stock crank. Douglas
TimZ
The displacement gain from the LD28 crank alone is only about 6%. That's roughly the equivalent of 1psi of boost. Not too big a difference, IMHO. Also, your price difference is going to be more than just the $200 for the crank. The stock piston/rod combos that are used for this swap yield compression ratios that are way too high for a turbo. You will have to have custom low compression pistons made, and they cost on the order of $125 each. So, with just that, your price just went up to around $1000. If you are planning on a maximum effort turbo motor, you should buy forged pistons anyway, so most people that build these up don't associate the pistons as an extra expense that came from the LD28 crank. However, it didn't sound as though you were planning on doing forged pistons just yet...
