Guest Anonymous
an ^date on my acquiring of turbo parts: I found a p90 turbo head.. from an 81.. totally stripped, cleaned, glass beaded, for 150, plus about 30 shipping. What kind of price would I expect to pay normally for a p90 turbo head, totally cleaned, w/o any valvetrain components. Also I was considering not buying this simply because it doesn't have any of the stock valvetrain, I'd imagine it would be expensive to buy all new cam/lash/springs/valves/guides/etc, or if I pulled another turbo head simply to get these parts it would be kind of useless in me not just buying the full head, rendering my totally cleaned p90 head (that I was considering buying) a waste of money.. how much would I expect to pay for replacement stock turbo valvetrain? Also nobody answered my forum about mating a n42 block w/ turbo forged pistons and the p90 turbo head. Are the differences in the n42 and the f54 block significant enough for me to turn down a completely rebuild n42 block used for turbo applications? With everybody's .02 I might be able to go buy a turkey for thanksgiving.. Happy turkey day Everyone.. 980 mak
Guest Anonymous
You may be talking about the P90 head that I have for sale. I've priced some things out and found out that new valve guides would be around $50, MSA sells a performance cam/springs, rockers, lash pads, retainers for around $450. You'll need a valve job and a serface job, this can range quite a bit, but I've been quoted under $100 by some friends. If you don't have big bucks then go with springs, retainers, cam and such out of a NA head that is in the junk yard. The NA cam differences aren't too much and are similar to performance turbo cams. Just get the rest of the valve train off of the head you took the cam from, and it really shouldn't cost much at all. Just a few beans (maybe under $25). SO, $25 for valve train, $50 for guides, $100 or so for machine work. I have a P90A head in similar shape that I will let go for less. Just make me a reasonable offer. The P90A head has been rebuilt before.
