Guest Anonymous
A couple days ago i took my zx to the drags, the first second and third passes were good but when i came back from the fourth one i noticed a little bit of smoke when i came down to an idle in the pits. Not wanting to cause any more damage than was already done i called it a day and went home. It only smokes when i let off the gas and usually smokes more when i come to a complete stop, stop lights are really bad. The smoke is a white blue. Im guessing that it is either valves or turbo maybe the head gasket and not rings since it does not smoke at all when i get on it. One more thing is that i took the rubber hose from the AFM to the turbo off and found that the hose is oily from where the turb from the valve cover joins in and when i take the oil cap off it will smoke out the valve cover and smoke out the tail pipe alot more. What do you guys think? go ahead and hit me with some bad news im ready for it. blake
Tony240ZT
Whelp, do a compression test and let us know how that turns out. Does it do it more when the car is cold (could be valve seals)? I think it's normal for there to be a bit of oily stuff in that PVC hose, but too much means that you probably have some blow by that is pushing oil out. If you have an automatic transmission check to see that the modulator isn't leaking tranny fluid into the intake. If so, just replace the modulator (like $15). Ron240zxt
Broke a piston, doughtful but anything is possible. Like stated do a compression test before anything, Valve stem seals could be the cause. By any chance at idle are you getting any blow by out of the valve cover hose? also does your car stall at idle if you pull the dip stick out a little? Let us know what you find out.
