268Z
I've done a bit of searching, but most every result that comes up is related only to swapping a 5 speed transmission into a 4 speed car. What I'm wanting to know is if the first four gears in a 1972 (B) manual transmission can be swapped into a later 5 speed casing while retaining the latter's 5th gear. In other words, can you run the 4 speed's lower gear ratios (for acceleration) in the 5 speed casing so that an OD 5th gear is available for highway usage. With these transmission gears, a rear differential ratio of 4.11 or 4.44 could make in-town driving a bit more fun.
