Guest Perry
On an FSAE race car, running a 12 psi turbo'd 600cc Honda CBR F2 with tuned port (yes actually tuned) EFI injecting 85% methanol 15% gasoline, I used to see 250 to 280F inlet temp with no intercooler. Rather than spend the money (and weight) for an intercooler I put a single injector in the inlet pipe right behind the turbo which would fog methanol at boost above 5 psi. The methanol would knock the temp down about 100F without using much fuel (I was worried about fuel distribution if I got too carried away with it). When initially set up the methanol was always on and it would make the intake cold to the touch within a half a minute or so while running at low load. Kinda like water injection but without the extra pump, tank etc.. because it used the normal engine fuel. Perry
