Guest Anonymous
Can't hardly stand the waiting. Ready to get started. Trucking Co. called yesterday and said my engine/trans will be delivered on Tuesday 22nd. It's a 1997 LT-1 w/305hp and a 4L60E transmission, only 40,000 miles on it. Was seriously thinking about an LS1, but paid $1800.00 for the LT-1 complete with everything including delivery, Could not pass up that deal. Guess I will go ahead and pull the engine/trans from my 72 240 this weekend and start getting the car ready. Charlie
DavyZ
What 'kit' will you be using to install the motor in the car, or do you have a converted car already and will merely be replacing the motor? Davy
Guest Anonymous
After months of reading all of the ideas on this forum , I am going with the JTR kit. Seems like it would be the best and easiest kit to use. Charlie
Guest Anonymous
Wow, that is a GREAT deal you got. If you come across another deal like that, hook me up. Mike PS, Now would be the best time to install a bigger cam, and ported heads.
Guest Anonymous
Is it out of an SS? I believe the 1997 SS had 305hp and the standard Z-28 had 285. Regardless this should be real healthy and tractable. Darius' car had the stock LT-1 and 6 speed and it went 12.30's I believe. If i remember correctly with the blower on the stock motor with low boost it ran a 12.0-11.90 in the 118-120 range. Only a small jump in ET gain but a big 10mph increase in the traps. Have fun and good luck with the swap. Again, I'm going from memory on Darius' #'s but I do believe they are pretty accurate according to the local street race heroes around here...
