Guest thinkmonkey
Has anyone used Jegs ( http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=1344&prmenbr=361 ) or JC Whitney's ( http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jhtml?CATID=5199&BQ=jcw2 ) exhaust cutouts before? How badly do they leak? I was thinking of using these pull cord dumps, and attaching a wingnut style cap on the end so I could seal it up completely for long trips or when I just can't stand the smell. They're only 2 and 1/4 inch, which is a little small for my 350, but I was only looking at getting 2.5 pipes off the headers anyway. My idea is to use the choke cable to actuate the dumps because it had two cords, almost too perfect... -David
Guest Anonymous
These cut outs have been around for years. Noah may have had a pair on the arc. They will leak a little or freeze up and not leak if ignored over a period of time. Be Prepared to provide regular service on them to keep operable. The old hot rodders usually had cut outs comming out between the front tires and fenders with two bolt plates for easy access to unbolt one side of the cutout and use the other bolt as a hinge to place the cover to the side allowing the exhaust to flow freely. These cutouts that you are interested in were advertised as a way to fool the traffic police. By the time they stoppped you ... well you had em all capped up by a tug on the cable making a fool out of the cop who was hearing things. I doubt if this scenario was successfully accomplished but sure sold a lot of them.
Guest Anonymous
Someone recently posted some electic cutouts too, pretty cool, a bit pricey but considering what they were I didn't think it was terrible, its in the archives somewhere probably a month or two ago.
