What is one of the better Ferrari 250 gto kits around? I'm looking into making a coupe version but don't know who to go with?? who makes one of the best looking kit?

Yup, I think Tomahawk Z pretty much has it covered.

Here is a link to Stable Autoworks http://www.zcarkits.com/ If you buy a body tell Jeff I sent you and he will throw in a free GTO dash.

Thunder Ranch (Tom McBurnie) can be found here http://www.thunderranch.com/gto.html

No link to Puckette but Eric Neyerlin has some pics over at ZParts http://www.zparts.com/inprogress.html

Oh, and to answer your other question - I think the Alpha 1 GTO is the best looking but I may have a slight bias !!!! :rolleyes:http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=236622

Since you can't get the Alpha I'd go with the Stable Autoworks version (it's an Alpha with a McBurnie nose).

There are three left. Stable Auto Works, Thunder Ranch and Puckett/no website(9968 Cleary Street, Santee, California 92071 Phone: 619-258-2052. Some one else may provide the web site /address. I have the Stable kit which may be located the nearest to you. Shipping can be expensive. Stable is a decent kit but the (chopper gun) fiberglass is thin in places on mine. The new website claims bodies are now hand laid fiberglass. IMHO, I would avoid Thunder Ranch from my experiece with a warped frontend.. Puckett is low profile but has a good reputation. There was an unfinished GTO on eBay. Check out the the kit car website for unfinished GTO kits.Alpha was a good kit from a former company. Velo Rossa was a good kit but not selling at this time (the originator John Washington is a hybrid member and is trying to recover the business).

2thumbs.gif Sounds like a good choice to me Kurt8394 and yes, last time I talked to Jeff Krekeler (the owner of Stable Autoworks) he said anybody I refered to him would get a free dash. Please check with him to make sure the offer still stands.

Good luck on your car and let me know if you need any help or info along the way.

Just to make sure everyone has the latest skinny: I do have the reins back in hand here, and my kit is buildable as a coupe. I leave out the rear deck area and recommend leaving the rear quarter windows open to help avoid a serious blind spot. See the FAQs on my website for more info.

There is a small amount of custom fab required in that area and around the back lip of the hatch, but the upside is that without the trunk lid and header cap, the kit is a little cheaper (about $300).

Also, there were some pretty negative things posted about Puckett recently. In fairness to Puckett, I've never had any bad dealings with him, but there are some other pretty unhappy guys out there. Charlie, if you are listening, I'd like to hear you address the issue in this forum.
