Guest Anonymous
I have an Alpha on a 71 240Z and would like to take out the standard Z rear hatch and install one that more closely resembles the 250 GTO look. Has anyone does this who can share how it is done, what the best components are to use, or where I can go to do this? Not being much of a mechanic, I do not want to remake the wheel if possible. Thanks.
Guest Pappy
I was thinking about this myself. What I had figured I would do is weld the hatch in place. Reseat the window a bit further up, and then cut out the trunk and gas filler. Make a trunk door out of fiberglass or something. Purchase a gas filler hose to go from the new position of the cap to the standard gas tank. And then just make a custom trunk interior out of fiberglass with a trunk fabric on top. Guest trickz
Hi guys, it can be done! I met a guy at the kit car nat`s that did it.He shortened the deck/hatch and added a brace for the hinges to mount on. his conversion was very trick!!!! The gas filler was in the right place on the driver's side and the trunk lid had a cut-out to go around it. The rear window was shorter and I believe it was plastic. Overall, the car was quite impressive; v-8,t5, correct dash and shortened seats. The only thing that didn't work for me was that it was right-hand drive. Does anyone know where I can see a picture of the hybridz decal? Thanks alot!!! trickz
