Guest johnny1913
I want to use a Chevy 350 or any other small block (327, 383, whatever) and a manual transmission (don't know what kind). What would be the costs for 300hp at the crank for the cheapest set-up including transmission? I would prefer 5-speed. Sorry if it's in the archives, i just didn't know how to search for what I want -Nate
Sumo
It depends on what you want, do you want to build your own engine or do you want a crate engine from GM? If crate engine is your answer the ZZ4 355hp engine costs around $3500 from select dealers. Cheapest set up is to get the whole complete donor car, like a wrecked camaro and transfer everything, but your not certain on how old and HP on it. Guest Anonymous
I myself am planning to go with a crate goodwrench engine. throw a nice intake, double pumper and some hooker headers on it and get hopefully 240hp or so.. maybe more. Then when the time comes rebuild the engine bore it out, bigger pistons, camshaft and so on. Im a broke college student though. As for a 5-speed look for a t-5 worldclass from an early 90 camaro. should get one in good condition around $700 to $1000 around here anyway. Pretty common tranny.
