Guest smoov280zx
Does anybody know what the rule is for choosing the correct thickness lashpads for a cam? I've got a 260/270 with .460 lift, wondering if there is a formula or something to figure out how to select the right pads. Thanks for any help.[/img]
Guest Anonymous
Contact your cam manufacturer with your product # and they should be able to help you. As far a a formula, the cam lobe on an aftermarket is physically differently shaped than a stock lobe. Thats why you can't just buy new lash pads. If you can measure with a micrometer the diference between the two cams at the base circle, add that measure to stock lash pad length to find the pad you require. Run a search for it at http://www.nismoparts.com. That what i did. Sorry if it's confusing,
Guest norm[T12SDSUD]
I am running stock lashpads with the Crane 272/282 .460" lift cam and I have .030" worth of cam tower shims. If you have no cam tower shims or less than .030" worth of shims under your cam towers, then the stock lash pads will work out fine assuming your valve heights are correct. All you need to do is make sure that your wipe pattern is no closer than .015" to either end of the rocker arm pad. Having the wipe pattern off center doesn't matter and it is actually beneficial if it is biased towards the adjuster as this will "cheat" and give you slightly more lift with the same cam.. I have run my cam for over 6 years and have had no problems. later, norm
