Here's what I have right now..

1)260z with l24 engine(daily driver)

2)Rusty floor pans and frame rails

3)Motorsport auto parts catalog

4)Muncie 4 speed M21

5)The desire for more horsepower

6)Triple Weber carbs setup for l24

What I'm looking to do is put a well balanced 300 hp sbc v8 in this car. But I have no idea where to start. The major parts I can get out of the motorsport auto catalog right? Is there anything else I should know that would stand in my way? I thought about just putting a hot six in there but the price to build one up is $2500.00 bucks(he couldn't promise me more then 200+ hp with out spending more cash) so I figure I could through a stock v8 in there for about the same price and get more horsepower out of that. What do you think?? Where do I start?? bonk.gif

The first thing you should do is get the JTR manual and search these archives for answers to all of your initial questions. There must be 100 times the JTR manual in here by now (do a search for the link to where to find the manual smile.gif ).

Once you have developed more specific questions, post it up and watch the good advice fly in. 2thumbs.gif

Log onto www.jagsthatrun.com and buy the manual for the Z. Read it and then decide what to do. You are asking the right questions, so use the forum search function, baby, and read read read!!!

You don't 'need' more than 300hp to have a quick little Z. When you get used to the power, then you can upgrade the motor in the future. Get a good runner made first, then go for the upgrades.

My $.02,

Davy

What exactly does this book contain? I mean what more would you need other then the bolt on parts and an engine? I know about recalibrating the tach but other then that what else can this book have that you would need? Also is there any other place to buy that book other then the JTR website??

I have read the JTR Manual a hundred times and still find something new. I am fairly critical of HOW TO DO IT MANUALS but I never would leave home without the JTR. Definitely money well spent if you are seriously going to a chevy V8 in an early Zee. The book covers everything you can imagine on the swap. And of course there are the templates you can copy at KINKOS to make your conversion mounts.
