Guest Anonymous
I am going with the old Rams Horn chev exhaust mainfolds. The passenger side is the center straight down exhaust dump but the drivers side requires a center dump that is angled toward the rear. These manifolds have to be machined to tuck towards the block for the required clearance plus the bolt holes require a corresponding machined angle cut too. The machining I am still waiting for costs $50.00 plus the $10.00 plus for the cast iron manifolds. Summitt sels some block hugger headers for $75.99 with free shipping. On later model SBC's with different dip stick location you can use later cast iron manifolds without machining. I have a fiberglass hood that concerned me with under hood heat from plain headers . Of course ceramic coat block huggers would solve this problem
DavyZ
Yes the "rams horn" manifolds need to be angle milled--the JTR manual shows you what angle you need to mill them. I was going to go with some, but the ones I pulled from the junkyard were cracked (found out later). So I ended up with the Summit racing headers (supposedly made by FlowTech) and will probably have them powder coated sometime this year.
