Guest Anonymous
I was planning to upgrade my 350 motor with a 406 engine. Presently the 350 is using JTR engine mounts. The JTR book says the balancer must be small and small flywheel also must be used. Does anyone know how to get pass these problems? My 406 can't wait to hit the road! dmanzo57
Summit Racing sells a balancer for the 400 Chevy that is 6.6" o.d. P/N SUM-B64266. You can use the 168 tooth flywheel if you use the right starter. One option is a gear reduction starter from a '95(I think) Chevy 1/2 ton truck, 5.7L. BLKMGK
I used the starter from an LT1 Impala - yuck. It didn't have th epower I wanted and I couldn't get it shimmed right. I ended up going with one of the cheaper mini-starters in Jeg's - AWESOME.
