i might have a link on a 87 gn motor for sale with almost everything included but i cant make up my mind because im not familiar with the engine at all . and i dont want to start a project that i cant finish. btw i want to swap this into a 76 280 .

ive spent the last 3 hours on the gn boards trying to learn everything and so far this swap is what i want because its easy to get so much power with little money.

are there any websites that have wiring diagrams for the gn motor .. this will be the hardest part for me....i can weld motor mounts build intercooler pipes and such .. but the wiring kills me every time..

any gn lunatics out there wanna walk me through this...? :)

Go to the Technical section and there is enough information there to keep you occupied for a week. There are no kits, or documentation on this swap anywhere except for what I have posted here and on the Buick boards. Go to http://www.turbobuicks.com and search the Hybrids forum as there are lots of GN-powered hybrids built or in progress that hang out there.

 

As for the wiring, you can do it yourself if you are not intimidated and have patience, else you can buy a special harness for about $500 designed for engine swaps in general. I did a little write-up on the approach to successfully grafting the harness in a swap but you will have to search for it in the Hybrid section of Turbobuicks.

I can modify the harness that is included with this motor, that would make things a lot easier on you for the install. IE, I will remove stuff you don't need (canister purge, Buick body harness connector) and label all the connections. There are less than 10 wires that actually interface from this SFI harness to your car.... Fuel Pump, Fan, TCC lockup, Tach, Brake Switch, Alternator ect.... it's not that hard!

Transmission is complete including dipstick tube, dipstick, TV cable ect. Unknown condition (shift kit, race rebuild unknown). Stock converter is included. 2300-2400rpm stall.

 

Wiring harness is out of an ’87 GN donor car. It will be cleaned up and labeled. I will fix any weather pack connections that are damaged or missing.

 

Electronics: MaxEffort Digital Programmable Fuel Management System with Direct Scan and Laptop. Also included is a ported MAF for use with the MaxEffort Chip. Laptop is Digital HiNote P166. Perfect size laptop for the car and displays Direct Scan playback very fast.

 

Performance 12.1 @ 118MPH STOCK TURBO(included) in my ’87 RX-7. Strong running motor with lots of life left. Just installed brand new steel timing set. Engine is currently in my ’87 Buick Grand National and runs great. Oil pressure is 30psi at hot idle with 10/40 oil. Zero smoke on start up or WOT. This means the turbo and intake seals are in great shape. I really don’t want to split up the parts because this setup will be perfect for someone doing an engine swap. The parts that are missing are not that difficult to come about. Some of the items a hybrid swapper probably will not even need (PS Pump, A/C, tensioner. I also have many other parts that I can make a deal on with the sale of this drive train. Things like intercoolers, GN radiator, GN driveshaft, some 4.1 blocks, Cams, Mini-Starters, Buick Shifter, 200AMP alternators, lots of chips ect.

misred .. i sent you an email but it came back undeliverable .. i was inquiring about the gn motor you had for sale....but i saw it on the v8rx7 boards.. :) anyways if you really dont think it will be that hard maybe ill get it.. its the auto trans and accessories that i dont follow because ive never worked on a turbo buick..ever

shipping will probably be pretty pricey though..

I also have an '87 GN motor for sale. This is an all stock 140K miles motor that was running fine at time of removal. Includes stock injectors, coil pack and ign. module, alternator, headers, crossover pipe, intercooler, plenum, throttle body, TPS sensor, FP regulator.
