waynekarnes
SB 708 was introduced to the calif state senate. SB 708 repeals the current law, exempting vehicles 30 years and older from smog test at registration time. if SB 708 passed only vehicles 45 years and older will be exempt from smog inspections. contact your senator NOW, let your senator know that you oppose SB 708. for info on how to contact your senator call 916 445 4311
Guest Anonymous
Do you have an 800 "free" number? I really hate this new law.
ianz
Hey everyone, The bill has not come up for review yet, but I wrote a letter and submitted it to all the legislators....they sent back a bunch of info and long story short, if passed, the bill will a. Exempt all vehicles 1960 and older b. Exempt vehicles 1960 to 74 that are driven 12K or less a year c. Require all 1975 and newer to be tested as they are now. The bill will go into affect Jan 2005 if passed. The real down side is the current laws allow for a rolling 20 year exemption starting next year so all the 260/280 guys could benefit..... I personally don't put more than 12k a year on my 240Z, but I wrote a letter apposing the bill anyway. I would like to know more about the roadside emissions testing (mainly in LA), and how they address older cars?? If you are truly interested in speaking out about this, go to zcar.com and do a search for "emissions" or "smog" for the past 2 months, there were a few postings on how and who to contact.
