Guest mattrp
Well, the horrible knock appears to be something other than valves, the lifters are good and no bent pushrods, or rockers. Im now assuming scored cylinder. So Im thinking of grabbing a typical crate motor from like kragen. But i have some questions. 1. Do you think I can get away with turning in my 305 as a core without them noticing?? 2. Can I reuse my intake manifold on the new motor (its the stock one from the 84 camaro z28 came with the motor) 3. I assume the bellhousing fits (duh) And the all important question... Will I lose power going from a pretty low compresion 305 with fresh stock heads and a clevite cam (edelbrock performer equivalent) to a bone stock 350 crate motor??? Guest Anonymous
you can use all of the parts, except the pistons. The even the crank has the same stroke. If you reuse your cam... rember to mark your lifter so that they will run on the same lobes. The 305 heads will add compression due to their small CC and the 350 large cylinder volume. Yes the pars man will be able to tell its a 305 by the casting # or bu looking at the cylinder bore. ------------------ He sent me to get the Jedi
