im going with a th 350 in my 81 280zx 2+2 is a longtail going to work in this 350 swap? i will have to have a drive shaft made either way and i thought a long tail will give me better clearence for exhaust. has anyone done this yet? its not really much of a street car and i dont care about highway milage really right now. i just want to drive in a straight line. my real ? is will the long tail make my drive shaft to short for the geometry to the rear?

The main question I have is what exactly do you want to do with this car? Drag race only, daily driver, road race? The extra length of the 2+2 will provide extra length to comfortably route things like exhaust and driveshaft, but once you get these expensive things built it might be hard to convince yourself to trash them if you change the drivetrain later. If it were me, I would look to the long term plan and put the pieces together that fit that plan. My $.02.

i want this for full race! i already have daily drivers and they are a dime a dozen. i mean i want this to be street legal, maybe outlaw class in the future but gas mileage takes the backseat to speed and low e.t.s. im dropping a 350 in for now so i can get everything else done while i build a real small block maybe a 383 or 377 or if i had the $$ a stroked 400 since cranks are getting cheaper. i was even thinking of a powerglide but not if im driving it on the street.

and what fun would that be! everything is streetable!!! im just looking torward my goal of a 9 second street car
