Guest Gillsby
ok here we go. i just bought a 1973 240z. from what i can tell it has some modifications done to it. (body) fiberglass cal hood, wide body finders, huge whale tail, 15x8.5 centerline wheels. ( drive train) dat comp 5 speed, new rear end ( not sure what ) there is a water injecion system, my fav part that came with the car is a " Toms Turbo" set up modified off teh origional ( i think) exaust manifold. with a huge holly 4 barrel carb. i cant see what type of turbo it is but im gonna break down the setup and get the manifuctare data off it so i can get the info on the turbo...my first question is. how do i tell what motor the exaust manifold came off of??? the last owner of the car had the car in he's garage for the last 11 years with no motor (lost his in a shop misshap) i dont feel like going to him again to ask about the car so im comming here. so once agian i as what should i look for on teh exaust end intake manifold to tell what type of motor i need to get. Guest Zcarsmakemyheadhurt
First off if you can take a pick or the parts I may be able to tell you more. But check the flange size to the turbo to see it its a T3 or TO4. The TO4 flange is about 3.75 x 4.25. T3's are smaller. Does the carb set before the turbo (draw threw, or does it set aft of the turbo (blow threw). Figure out what you have and then you can put a little modern day into the combo and make tons of safe HP. Good luck.
