Guest Anonymous
I was test fitting my engine/tranny yesterday and found that the clutch lever (fork) interfers with the firewall/tunnel near the location of the gas pedal. This is an '83 with a 350sbc, MSA mounts and a T5. It looks like I have to punch the wall in towards the driver's door at least an inch and maybe move the gas pedal. Dave G, is this why you used the McLeod hydraulic release bearing? Also, is the T5 and T56 clutch lever the same? Not that I can afford a T56 but if they're the same then I shouldn't be having this problem, right? - SoM
Guest greimann
I originally had a shortened GM arm and the stock Datsun slave in a kluged setup. It worked, but there were reliability problems. That is why I went with the Mcleod unit. I don't know about T56 setups. I really like my Mcleod hydraulic bearing. It is expensive, but it solves a lot of problems like you have discovered. If you buy it, you do not need the spacer sleeve.
Guest SteveR
We've got the same problem in the 300zx. We just plan on notching the firewall though. Assuming it doesn't interfere with the gas pedal...

Ok, kluge is my middle name so I guess I'll grind off what I can from the lever and notch the firewall. If it interfers with the gas pedal maybe I can put a throttle stick on the steering column like an old tractor I also have the MSA block hugger headers made for the 240 conversion and sure enough the left side hits the steering. I guess I need to buy a bigger hammer... - SoM
