Secret Ignition Switches

I'm just suggesting ideas. I have not see any custom built ECUs for security reason yet. (there are many for performance)

I agree switches are the easiest, cheapest, and perhaps, the best. all the car alarms out there can be visualized as a combination of switches. thefts know about all the alarm setups available on the market. the one they don't know is your own setup.

 

here is another tip:

tap the throttle and/or air mass sensor(s), so the engine only runs at idle speed, which means the engine will stall if it's under load(clutch or transmission engaged). you should be able to figure out the details.

 

[the car may not stall, it may run at idle speed(1/2 mph?), unless it's all down hill. so, park your car uphill from now on.]

I checked at the local 'Import custom Shop' about the "key-transmitter" thing. He said there isn't anything besides OEM (mostly luxury vehicles even) on that. Too bad; I thought a ring with a Z-logo and transponder chip would be cool. Maybe I will ccheck the security shops next.

 

A friend suggested you tap off an accessory switch to a starter interrupter. What's a starter interrupter? Sounds like some kind of switch or relay thing that completes the circuit to the starter solenoid.

 

If you wanted to do the timed- shutoff, it would be easy to design a timer circuit and relay from Radio Shack parts. You just splice into the ignition coil circuit, and add a bypass/deactivate switch to turn the thing off so the engine runs. You could wire it so you need to hit the switch every time the engine is started.. You could then hide the deactivate switch on the switch panel with all the other accessory switches.
