Guest Perry
Ok, I hooked up a 7/8" Howe master cylinder with -4 Aeroquip TFE hose. drilled and tapped the GM plastic slave cylinder for 1/8"pipe, installed and bled it being careful not to overtighten the fitting into the slave cylinder. Everything looked great and I had all the air out of it so I decided to do some "simulated driving conditions testing", meaning I slammed through the gears while making engine noises (still sitting in the garage on jackstands of course). After a couple runs through the gears the slave cracked from my tapped threads to the bleed screw. I think my error was that I cut off the top of the boss above my threads instead of using a brass pipe extension. JTR says to cut it off but shows a pic of it with an extension and no cutting. I'm gonna get another one from the JY today and try again, this time I won't cut it and I may put a little JB weld in the hole for strength. I guess the point is have others had some trouble with this? and if you are doing this I wouldn't cut it. OK now the update: I'm sick of looking at a dead car in the garage. I have begun putting it together as is and will do some remaining cleaning up/restoring/modifying in little projects once it is driveable again. The driveshaft should be in my hands in the next day or two, 19.125 inches center to center for those interested. I just reinstalled (for about the 1000th time) the engine and trans, brake master cylinder and some other things. I fabbed up a 2.5 inch into 3 inch exhaust with a flowmaster in the trans tunnel last night. This will probably be reworked later by using a dual inlet muffler as a Y pipe, the flowmaster and 3 inch tailpipe were leftover from the turbo setup. Once I bleed the brakes and fix my clutch, I'll be waiting on the drive shaft to actually move it to my other garage a block away under its own power. I haven't driven this car in 3 years, can't wait to get it on the road. Next is bodywork. Perry
Guest Perry
guess I should tell you what I'm working on, '77 280Z, already done the turbo thing, this time it's a 350 chevy.

Make sure you don't use too much Teflon tape on the threads. Too much could have caused the crack.
Guest Perry
I didn't have teflon tape on it, I tightened it a little at a time until it stopped leaking. next one I will put the teflon on, brain fart I guess. I get the driveshaft tonight!! Can't wait to have a complete driveline in it even if I can't go anywhere with it yet. No more pushing for me!!!!!! let the car push me for a change!!
