Guest HBskinheadZ
Hello all! I have been buzy with my v8 conversion, the motor is on the stand ready to go 8) I will be installing my r200 out of a 76 280z and while im at it dropping my gas tank (for undercoating and to have a larger fuel line installed) and installing the poly bushings in the rear of the car. I have been reading alot of the posts about the bushing swap and was wondering should I get light beer or will this require an import beer
Dan Juday
All beer jokes aside, I'm interrested in insite from others that have done this too. When the car comes back from paint jail (bodyshop #2) the rearend and brake upgrade is on the agenda. My stock bushings are in good shape. I don't want a bunch of squeeky bushings and I'm not going to be road racing. Do I really need to go through the hassle of changing all my stock stuff over to urathane(sp?)? Are there a few that should be done that aren't a huge hassle requiring special tools? I have planned to upgrade the moustashe bar bushings with the R200 swap. But other than that do I need to upgrade any other bushings in the rear?
ToplessZ
I may be doing this also....Dan what do you mean by squeaky bushings. Are urethane bushings characteristicly squeaky? I hate squeaks...Are the rubber bushings all that bad? Is it a good idea to mix and match maybe put urethane bushings in the higher stress areas and the rubber ones everywhere else? Guest Ted-Z
Urethane bushings are inherently squeeky. There are some manufacturers who impregnate them with graphite and some people add zirk fittings so they can be greesed. I don't know how effective the graphite ones are. Guest HBskinheadZ
Well the rear bushings and the r200 are in. The mustash bar was easy but the tranverse link bushings were a pain in the a . I recomend you get these pressed out if possable. If you have the proper tools this should take a couple of hours (Pressed out) double it if you have to cut the old bushing out. Import beer!
