Guest evl
Hi everyone... I had to drag myself away from the Z for while to finish my thesis, so I've been away from these groups for a while. Anyway, I'm looking for pointers on what to do wheel wise. Currently I have a nice set of 16x7 panasports with yoko A032Rs in 225/60R16, which I love but they do rub a bit on the rear fender. I'm currently switching over to a coilover setup, and I'm thinking I might want a little more tire under there. I'm also wanting to get back into racing, so I'm thinking about getting a second set of wheels to mount the racing tires on. So anyway, I seem to remember someone used to have a nice web site explaining what kind of offsets were appropriate for different setups. Does anyone still have a link? If not anyone care to summaraize what my options are? Are there any panasports that are wider and work well with the coilovers? I really like the ones I have now, but I'd like to get a little more width, and try to bring them in from the fenders a bit. Failing that, how hard is it to get custom steel rims made? Seems like that might not be a bad way to get wheels for the racing tires. They wouldn't have to look good, but I guess they would probably be a bit heavier. Thanks for your help. Oh, this is a '72 240, I'm sure that matters. Chevy 350, R200, and guards red paint. Everything else is stock, but coilovers, sway bar and roll cage are in the mail. Guest zfan
You could gently hammer the fender wheel lips up and in very carefully and slowly and gain 1/2"? Just a thought. MIke
Guest evl
I've thought about that a few times, and even tried it once. Unfortunately I bought the wheel/tires after I had it painted, so the amount of force I have the courage to bang with at this point isn't sufficient to move the metal. Have you done this with success? Do you need to make little cuts in the lip to get it to bend up? It seems to me the metal in the lip would need to fold otherwise.
