Guest the_dj
My car would die at idle if I didn't tell it to keep the IAC valve open pretty far when I let off the gas. I did some reading online, and decided to up my timing (only at idle) from 12 degrees to 25 degrees. I also took 14% of the fuel out at idle. With a 2 degree bump (up) in my cranking advance, my car now fires in 2 rotations or less of the starter when cold, 5 rotations or less when warm (it never used to fire at all warm without some persuasion with my foot) and idles strong, smooth, and consistent. I closed the IAC significantly. Manifold vacuum is stronger and I don't have ANY problems with the idle falling below its set point. I still have a bit of work to do in the 1200-1700 range to see if I can make my car cruise there without lugging from my cam. At WOT, I took out 2 degrees from 2500-4500, and 1 degree from 5000-6500. I also took out 3% of the fuel due to 40 degree warmer temps and it always has smelled really rich. Total timing is now 34 from 3000 up and 35 from 4500 up. Not done but much better!!
